C.A. C. A. NAMES JO BLAKELEY AS ARTIST OF THE MONTH FOR FEBRUARY

Cossatot Arts & Crafts Association met March 19, 2010 and selected Jo Blakeley as Artist of the Month for her portrait of the President Terry Wester. The piece, done in sanguine pencil, is titled "Concentration". Van Ledbetter's watercolor of the Queen Wilhelmina Nature Center placed second. "Ruler of the Roost", Jerri Rivers' acrylic painting of the barnyard boss, was third. Sherry Ward entertained us with her oil painting, "Psychodelic Goats", which took fourth place.

Plans are continuing for the 39th Annual King Art Show, open to the public Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd. Full details of the King Show, listing rules, prizes and categories, are being published in brochure form and will be available very soon.

The Association encourages entries in Children, Youth and Adult Divisions, and also Photography. There is a "Youth Building", separate from the main King School, which houses all the Children and Youth entries. This is a popular spot, particularly with parents and grandparents. Another nice feature of this building is its front porch, which is used for a dining place. Food and drink will be available for sale, along with baked goods.

There will be one more meeting of C.A.C.A. before the King Show. The meeting will be held at the REA building on Cross Trails Road in DeQueen at 11:00 a.m. on April 16th. Visitors are welcome.

1. C.A.C.A. will meet once each month to choose the Artist of the Month. Meetings
will be held at 12:00 noon each third Friday unless otherwise specified.

2. To be eligible, each work must have been completed within the last two years.

3. An artist may win Artist of the Month only once during the year unless there
are no entries from non-winners.

4. New members will be eligible for Artist of the Month when showing a painting for the
third time, and eligible to vote when they become a member. If a member misses 12
or more monthly meetings, they must comply to the same rules that apply to new
members. Exceptions at the discretion of the Board.

5. Artist must show a painting a minimum of 6 meetings and attend 4 meetings to be
eligible for Artist of the Year competition, except eligible new members. Exceptions
at the discretion of the Board.

6. An entry winning first place in Artist of the Month, may not be entered again.

7. All eligible artists are expected to enter Artist of the Year competition.
