CELEBRATING CURIOSITY

The cure for boredom is curiosity.  There is no cure for curiosity.                  Ellen Parr

Curiosity is the spark that ignites intellectual and artistic energy.
The best teachers can strike that spark in their students' brains and
hearts.                                                                                                                         Mary Engelbreit

I think, at a child's birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to
endow it with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity.                          Eleanor Roosevelt

I have no special talents.  I am only passionately curious.                                  Albert Einstein

At first people refuse to believe that a strange new thing can be
done, then they begin to hope it can be done.  Then they see it can
be done ----- then it is done and all the world wonders why it was
not done centuries ago.                                                                                             Frances Burnett

"To create one's own world in any of the ARTS takes courage."
Georgia O'keefe

MY THOUGHTS ON PAINTING: When I am painting, I can get lost in my own world of creativity and serenity. It is challenging and relaxing at the same time and it is much cheaper than therapy.
It is my belief that when an artist picks up a brush and a blank canvas or watercolor block and starts to put color on, he has the chance to do something wonderful and different. Instead of painting a predictable sky and a ho-hum landscape which has been done again and again, he can choose to use vivid color and a bold technique and keep the viewer's attention focused on HIS painting and not the next painting in line on the wall.
Jo Blakeley.

To create the illusion of 3 dimension, you must create depth.

To create depth you must bring forward light and recede dark, forward warm and recede cool, forward hard  recede soft, and forward high chroma and recede low chroma.

Melba

I AM INTERESTED IN "ART" AS A MEANS OF LIVING A LIFE; NOT AS A MEANS OF MAKING A LIVING.
