The King Art Show
Held The First Weekend In May
The King Art Show is held each year at the 92 year-old King school building.  It has been for the last 35 years.
  This is a regional show,
and draws entrants from many states, particularly from Oklahoma, Louisiana , and Texas.in addition to Arkansas entries.
Judging has always been by recognized experts in the field of art. The name of a qualified judge or judges will be posted on the day of the show.
With emphasis on the region in which the show was conceived, the Cossatot Country painting and photography categories are the highlight of the annual show.
To qualify for these categories, the paintings and photographs must depict subjects or sites within 15 miles in any direction of the Cossatot River. The painting may be in any medium and the photographs can be in color or black and white.

Some 900 people visited the first art show in De Queen. That number has increased dramatically through the years.
Last years show offered  record awards totaling  $10,582, and with the increased awards, comes increased entries from all over the four states  area and beyond

Most of the art work  is for sale, but of particular interest to many is the
" Artist Attic" where painting and photographs are for sale for $75 and under.
The CACA always encourages the "artists of tomorrow", the children and youth of the area, with many special awards and ribbons.
Two years ago a building donated by Weyerhaeuser, was moved onto the King property and is presently used for youth and children's art.
Area schools, some as for away as Shreveport, bring their student's work to be entered in the show. Mena high school sends a bus for the day, bringing their students with over 100 entries.
The De Queen and Horatio schools are active participants in the show, showing a large number of works by their students.
All of the award money for each show is donated by businesses or individuals who are either sponsors or purchase award  buyers.
The CACA is very grateful for such generous community support. We take the responsibility of producing a high quality show very seriously because we want it to be something our supporters and community can take pride in.
