IRIS SAYLOR Iris and husband Gale moved to De Queen, Arkansas from the Houston area in 1977. She began painting after her retirement in 1995 when she joined Victoria's Art Class as a beginner. Shortly after this she joined the CACA and became a board member and secretary in 1997. She held this position for 10 years. She now serves as reporter/publicity chairman and remains on the board. During her tenure as secretary, she converted all the CACA records, address lists and other information to the computer, allowing more efficient and effective communication, publicity and record keeping. During this time she also compiled the annual art show brochures with the help of other volunteers. Her favorite mediums are oil and pastel and her favorite subjects are animals and buildings. In 2001 she held her own art show at the Sevier County Museum which included art, photography and poetry. In 2008 she was the honoree at the 2008 CACA King Art Show. Iris has won numerous awards for art over the years and continues to attend Victoria's Art Class weekly. |
