Jo
Nell Blakeley
Jo Nell
began drawing very early---just past the toddler stage. Her
picture of a wild-haired man, wearing an apron and pulling a train
became one of her mother's favorites because the hair, apron strings
and train smoke were all flying in the same direction. A
little later she began drawing pinup girls, designing clothes, and
dreaming up cartoon characters, such as "hayseed" farmers with nose and
ear hair and old worn felt hats. (Remind you of anyone?)
Her love
of drawing and all facets of art have served her well over the years,
both personally and in the workplace, where she was often called upon
to furnish an impromptu design for an invitation or poster.
In her last job for a large company in California, she volunteered to,
and did, design the artwork for each seasonal brochure advertising the
business classes for the employees.
Her
diverse subject matter is exciting and challenging to her and allows
her to grow and continue to master her favorite
medium----watercolor. Above all, she hopes to inspire and
entertain the viewer. And, she adds: "It's always
nice to make a little money, too".
